The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Division of Technical Resources (DTR) is recruiting Intern or Fellowship data scientists and data engineers with advanced degrees or those who may wish to use work experience at the NIH towards earning their Master or Doctoral degrees. Candidates must be United States citizens.

Selected candidates will gain first-hand experience in cutting edge and novel technologies at the NIH.  We have been utilizing advanced data analysis processes including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), predictive analytics, and mathematical modeling for over 15 years.

 

The DTR currently collects over 40 million automated data points each day from approximately 5000 continuously running analyses and over 1,000,0000 calculations per day to conduct our mission.

 

Intern or Fellowship candidates should have a combination of some of the following qualifications:

 

1.  Background in mathematics, engineering, and analytics

2.  Background in manipulating data sets and building statistical models

3.  Knowledge with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)/predictive analytics; mathematical modeling, game theory, genetic algorithms, and operations research

4.  Understanding of probability theory, probabilistic models, statistics & stochastic processes, and stochastic modeling

5.  Experience using languages (R, Python, SQL, NoSQL, Matlab, C++, Hadoop, Java, JavaScript etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
